Maintenance Overview

In most cases, ECX is installed on a virtual appliance. The virtual appliance contains the application and the Catalog.

System Administrators can perform maintenance tasks on the ECX application. Note that a System Administrator is usually a senior-level user who designed or implemented the vSphere and ESX infrastructure, or a user with an understanding of ECX, VMware, and Linux command-line usage. Maintenance tasks are performed in vSphere Client, through the ECX command-line, or through a web-base management console.

Maintenance tasks include setting the time zone, collecting logs, updating the application, and reviewing the configuration of the virtual appliance.
